The Pentium B950 and the core i3-330M have same clock frequency and both are dual core processors. The Pentium B950 belongs to the latest Sandy Bridge architecture and this give it distinct advantage over the i3-330 that belongs to the earlier Nehalem architecture. The Pentium B950 is able to provide similar or sometimes better performance than the core i3-330M even when the Hyperthreading is disabled in B950.

The places B950 ahead of the i3-330M is the integrated graphics. The integrated Intel HD grapics 3000 in the B950 is far superior to the i3-330M’s integrated graphics.

The the higher clocked Nehalem i3 processors ( e.g. the more popular i3-370M and i3-380M) will have better processor performance, they will still lack the integrated graphics performance that B950 has.

Based upon Sandy Bridge architecture Pentium B950 is the elder brother of the more populate Pentium B940 processor. If we wish to compare Performance wise, it is better than the Arrandale Pentium processors aka, Pentium P6100 and P6200). The Hyperthreading in B950 ( as well as the Turbo Boost )is disabled in the Pentium B950, which leads to lower performance than the similarly clocked second generation Core i3 sandy bridge processor.

Some more details of Core i3-330M

The Hyperthreading in the core i3-330M allows 4 threads running simultaneously. The processor is built with two dies on the chip, the first die containing the two processor cores and the second die containing the Integrated memory controller and the integrated GPU. The performance of the Integrated GPU is for entry level graphics and not really great for gaming, though, it helps reduce system cost by not requiring a separate discrete graphics component. The core i3-330M is for entry level notebooks. More recently, the higher clocked, the core i3-380M has become more popular choice for the notebook manufacturers. The communication with the chipset is using fast differential DMI Bus
