Core i3-3220 Vs i3-2100

Intel’s core i3-3220 belongs to its newer Ivy Bridge group while the i3-2100 is older Sandy Bridge processor. The Core i3-3220 is clocked 200 MHz higher ( 3.30 GHz Vs 3.10 GHz in i3-2100). This itself bring about an improvement of the order of 6.45%. The Ivy Bridge has brought a clock to clock improvement of 10% over Sandy Bridge.

We should therefore look at the performance improvement of the order of 15% in the i3-3220 with respect to i3-2100.

The Ivy Bridge also brings a better integrated graphics – the HD Graphics 2500. Unfortunately it is not the superior HD Graphics 4000. But we should still see improvement over the HD Graphics 2000 in the i3-2100. Do not expect it to be able to play fast moving games and high fps.

Some more details of Core i3-3220

Core i3-3220 is the 3rd generation Core i3 processor belonging to its Ivy Bridge series. Compred to the 2nd generation Core i3 ( Sandy Bridge), it comes with 10% clock to clock improvement and a a better graphics – HD Graphics 2500. The quick sync is also improved substantially , that helps speedier encoding and decoding of video.

Some more details of Core i3-2100

The Core i3-2100 is the second generation Intel Core i3 processor improving significantly upon the architecture that evolved from Arrandale. Although turbo boost is not available in the core i3-2100 ( The newer turbo 2.0 technology, that increases the time for which processor can be in the boosted state, is available only on the second generation core i5 and i7 processors), the processor still shows significant performance improvement over similarly clocked 1st generation core i3 processor. The more significant improvement has been in the area of integrated graphics unit.
