AMD steals Intel Market share in Q4 2011
Even with the lackluster bulldozer performance, AMD was able to gain market share from Intel 2011 as per the public data released by IDC.
In 2011, Intel had 80.1 percent share, down 0.6 points from 2010, while had 19.7 percent share up 0.7 points. Via is the only other PC processor manufacturer worth mentioning. Its share dropped from 0.3 percent to 0.2 percent.
While AMD lost in the server and workstation area, it more than made up with a robust gain in the mobile area.
The PC market rebounded in 2011 and, according to the data, the Q4 2011 PC processor sale surged by over 14 percent.
