AMD FX-8150 Vs Core i5-2500K from Intel

AMD has priced the FX-8150 moderately high at $239 ( as per the latest price from newegg) at which it competes with Intel’s highly popular and best selling Core i5-2500K.

– The performance of the two processor is comparable and one can beat the other depending upon the particular application being run. The FX-8150 has eight cores and is better when all 8 cores are used up.

– The FX-8150 has higher base and turbo clock frequency. Both processors can be overclocked.
– The FX-8150 does not come with integrated GPU while the Core i5-2500K has Intel HD Graphics 3000. The integrated graphics in the Core i5-2500K is not great as far as playing high end games is concerned. But if you are not into gaming and just need smooth display , the HD Graphics 3000 is not bad at all. It saves you few bucks on the graphics card.

The AMD’s FX-8150 is an 8 Core bulldozer processor that will perform great, especially in cases where all 8 of its core can be put into use. It supports Turbo boost and can be overclocked. The bulldoze architecture is based upon modules – with each module having two integer cores. Each of these two core have their own L1 Data Cache.

The core i5-2500K is the overclockable version of the core i5-2500. It belongs to the second generation Core i5 processor, more popularly known as the Sandy bridge Processor. There have been several improvement over the previous generation core i5 processor, most notable among them is the improvement in the integrated graphics ( x2 performance improvement). The new Turbo 2.0 further boosts the performance. In the lithography improvement the we now have a unified 32 nm die having everything on a single die. The higher passmark score of core i5-2500K with respect to the core i5-2500 only indicates that more samples sent the overclocked 2500K scores
