AMD FX-8120 Vs Core i5-2500K

– The FX-8120 is the bulldozer processor from AMD, while the Core i5-2500K is the Sandy Bridge processor form Intel.
– The FX-8120 is an eight core processor ( going by AMD’s terminology) while the i5-2500K is quad core.

– The FX-8120 has slight edge over the Intel’s i5-2500K. Its lead increases for highly multithreaded computing.

– The i5-2500. however, comes with HD Graphics 3000 integrated graphics. It does not has great performance but is good enough for encoding and decoding videos and seamless dual displays. You will still need a graphics card for high end gaming.

– FX-8120 is about $40 cheaper than the i5-2500K at the time of writing ( $189.99 Vs $229).

If you can make use of the integrated graphics of i5-2500K ( and you are not into gaming), it is an excellent solution. If you need a graphics card anyway, the bulldozer FX-8120 turns out better, as, it will give you better graphics performance when paired with an external graphics card.

The AMD’s FX-8150 is an 8 Core bulldozer processor that will perform great, especially in cases where all 8 of its core can be put into use. It supports Turbo boost and can be overclocked. The bulldoze architecture is based upon modules – with each module having two integer cores. Each of these two core have their own L1 Data Cache.

The core i5-2500K is the overclockable version of the core i5-2500. It belongs to the second generation Core i5 processor, more popularly known as the Sandy bridge Processor. There have been several improvement over the previous generation core i5 processor, most notable among them is the improvement in the integrated graphics ( x2 performance improvement). The new Turbo 2.0 further boosts the performance. In the lithography improvement the we now have a unified 32 nm die having everything on a single die. The higher passmark score of core i5-2500K with respect to the core i5-2500 only indicates that more samples sent the overclocked 2500K scores
