AMD FX-4170 Vs Core i5-2500K

– The FX-4170 is a quad core bulldozer processor from AMD that has higher base clock frequency than the Intel’s Sandy Bridge Core i5-2500K.

– The Intel’s i5-2500K has better processor performance, even with lower clock frequency.

– The i5-2500K also has HD Graphics 3000 integrated GPU. The bulldozer FX-4170 does not come with any Integrated GPU.

– The FX-4170 is cheaper at $189 as compared to Core i5-2500K’s $229 ( at the time of writing). If you make use of the integrated graphics of the i5-2500K, it provides better value for money.

AMD’s FX 4170 increases the clock speed to 4.10 GHz making it the fastest quad core bulldozer processor. The FX-4170 takes on the Intel’s Sandy Bridge Core i5 processors but does not come with Integrated Graphics. The Llano APUs or the forthcoming Trinity APUs from AMD could be better choices if you are looking for integrated graphics performance.

Some more details of Core i5-2500K

The core i5-2500K is the overclockable version of the core i5-2500. It belongs to the second generation Core i5 processor, more popularly known as the Sandy bridge Processor. There have been several improvement over the previous generation core i5 processor, most notable among them is the improvement in the integrated graphics ( x2 performance improvement). The new Turbo 2.0 further boosts the performance. In the lithography improvement the we now have a unified 32 nm die having everything on a single die. The higher passmark score of core i5-2500K with respect to the core i5-2500 only indicates that more samples sent the overclocked 2500K scores
