AMD A6-3420M Vs Core i3-2330M
- The AMD’s A6-3420M is a quad core Llano APU while the i3-2330M is dual core Sandy Bridge processor from Intel.
- The A6-3420M supports turbo boost while the core i3-2330M does not support turbo boost.
- The A6-3420M is better in multi threading environment where all 4 cores are put into use. However, the two processors have, in general, similar performance level.
- The AMD’s A6-3420M, however, takes decisive lead with its integrated graphics performance. You may like to check Radeon HD 6520G Vs HD Graphics 3000 , if you are looking for integrated graphics performance.

Some more details of AMD A6-3420M
The AMD A6-3420M bumps up the clock frequency of A6-3400 by 100 MHz. This should make it better performing than many of the Core i3 Sandy Bridge processor and brings it closer to some of the Core i5 Sandy Bridge processors. The Integrated Graphics in the A6-3420M is much better than the Intel’s HD Graphics 3000 and supports DirectX11. A great graphics at low power could be the best reason for you to consider A6-3420M
Some more details of Core i3-2330M
The Core i3-2330M marginally improves upon the core i3-2310M and should therefore offer a performance improvement of the order of 4%. The turbo boost is not available with core i3-2330M which will reduce its performance as compared to the core i5 processors. The graphics performance is decent with Intel’s integrated graphics 3000 but not great.
In the next post we will present the Benchmarking comparison of these two processors.

The AMD processor is quite good value. Especially its GPU compared to the Intel. About time AMD stepped up on the processor power front. Having the 4 cores is just for bragging rights but still i would buy one if i wanted AMD now.
Im buying my first laptop and overwhelmed with the choices. Can anybody give me advice. I do not game nor any kind of graphic work. Mainly I Check email. Compose a story or song now and again but most of all I’m a non-professional photographer and would be doing a lot of picture work with this laptop. I can’t afford a Mac but do have 400-600 dollars to invest. I’d appreciate any input from those of you that know this stuff inside and out. Thank you. Chad Daniels 5-19-12
I’ll admit, I am a huge Intel fan, but the Intel HD graphics is terrible and expensive. I just got an HP G6 Pavilion with the A6-3420M & Radeon HD 6520G graphics and I’ve got to say, for an integrated chip, this thing rolls. I can play Call of Duty 4 no problem and it auto sets it to max settings. I can play Minecraft on far render and fancy graphics at about 30 frames. I got this computer on sale for $379.99 and it was a superb deal. If anyone gets the chance to get one for $379 it’s the HP Pavilion G6-1D48DX. It’s normally $500 but this thing was an absolute steal. Good luck…
@Aron
Hey from where did you get this HP one?
I got mine from Newegg when it was on sale only it was an Asus for 359.99. I believe Amazon had a similar laptop with a 1gb extra ram and a bigger hard-drive for 399.99.
Aron probably got the hp pavilion g6-1D48DX from best buy because they have it there on sale for 379.99 as of right now. I am going to buy it now to what games it can handle. Thank you Aron very much!
